Frontend engineers Engineers who build what users see and click in the browser, in React, Angular or Vue, and where in India they are hired. What this role isThe skills it needs The skills at a glance React JavaScript HTML CSS TypeScript

Job posts for this role ask most for React and JavaScript, with HTML, CSS and TypeScript underneath, Angular as the other big framework, and state management with Redux for larger apps. The full story of what each skill is used for is on the skills page.

Where frontend engineers are hired Frontend is hired wherever the screen matters, either because the screen is what the company sells or because people use it all day at work. Product companies are its home. The framework a company hires for says a lot about it. React is the default almost everywhere, and the GCCs hire React almost alone. Angular lives on in finance and in long-lived business software, and at the services firms. Mixed stacks, with Vue beside React, show up at the travel sites and the customer-service platforms. Accenture is the largest single employer of frontend engineers in India. Big tech hires few. Many companies now post frontend work as part of a full-stack job, and those jobs are covered on the JavaScript and Node and Java pages. Product companies

Among product companies, frontend is hired in two kinds of place. In the B2C companies the interface is the product, and a slow or clumsy screen loses the sale. In the B2B companies the screen is a complex tool that people work in all day, full of data and long workflows. TypeScript is expected almost everywhere.

The sharpest hiring hotspot is travel tech, part of e-commerce, travel and logistics. Few industries hire frontend more heavily. Agoda, Headout, Expedia Group and Airbnb build the search and booking screens of online travel agencies (OTAs), and those screens must be fast and must convert. Agoda hires Vue beside React. India's own, MakeMyTrip and Cleartrip, do the same at home. Sabre and Amadeus build the screens that airlines and travel agents use, in travel distribution (GDS) and airline software, the systems behind the booking sites. This is mostly work for experienced engineers (who they hire).

Gaming, streaming and media is the consumer hiring hotspot most open to juniors. JioStar, JioHotstar and Roku build web and TV players in React for OTT and live streaming platforms at very large scale. Thomson Reuters, Elsevier and RELX build reading and research products for news, publishing and social media. Adobe, Cvent and Goldcast build browser tools in creative tools, event platforms and creator marketing, from creative editors to event platforms.

Enterprise SaaS and software is the largest hiring hotspot by volume, and here the screen is a work tool. Freshworks, Zendesk and Hiver build help desk and customer success software, and Five9 and NiCE build contact centre software (CCaaS). These customer-service companies hire the most mixed stacks in the market, with React, Angular and Vue all asked for. Ivanti, ServiceNow and TeamViewer build the consoles for IT service management (ITSM) and IT operations software, in React with a large Angular share. Sprinklr and Meltwater build dashboards for PR, media monitoring and social listening tools. Rippling, Whatfix and UiPath hire frontend engineers too.

Fintech is where Angular is strongest. In wealthtech and capital markets, SimCorp and Arcesium build asset management and fund administration software, and InvestCloud and Addepar build wealth management and advisory platforms. S&P Global, Moody's and Morningstar build research screens. These are dense business screens, and many were built when Angular was the enterprise choice (who they hire). On the consumer side, Intuit and Jar build apps for stock trading apps and personal finance, and Bajaj Finserv, Rupeek and Snapmint build lending apps for digital lending and BNPL, in Angular and React alike. Both take juniors readily, and so do PayPal and Stripe, which build checkout screens for payment gateways.

A few more pockets are worth knowing. Procore, Trimble and Eagleview build software for construction in React, TypeScript and Next.js, and they are open to juniors. Caterpillar builds the screens for its heavy equipment. Postman, Harness, Atlassian and Kong build DevOps and CI/CD tools in React. ModMed, Provation and athenahealth build electronic health record (EHR) software that doctors work in. Nextiva and RingCentral build UCaaS and cloud phone systems, and they take juniors readily. In edtech, BOLD, QuillBot and Exxat build in React and Next.js and are open to juniors too.

Services firms

In the services world, frontend engineers build web apps for clients, and Angular holds on here more than anywhere outside finance. Accenture is the largest single employer of frontend engineers in India (who they hire). It hires React with a large Angular share, mostly at the mid level. The IT services giants, like IBM, Infosys, TCS and LTIMindtree, hire many as well.

Mid-sized IT services firms, like Happiest Minds, UST, Mphasis and Virtusa, hire frontend more heavily than the giants do, and they are the most Angular-heavy group of services firms. Small software shops, like Zemoso, GammaStack and Wissen Technology, hire frontend most heavily of any services firms. The consulting arms and the quiet foreign majors hire frontend specialists at an ordinary rate, and the services firms that feel like product companies hire few. Across services, junior frontend openings are rare. More on all of them is in the services world's frontend and mobile hiring.

GCCs

The GCCs build the parent's websites and internal tools, and they hire React almost exclusively.

The retailers are the GCC hiring hotspot. Inside the retailers and consumer-goods companies, Walmart, Tesco, Best Buy India and Lowe's build their shopping sites and store tools in React, with Redux and Node, at the centres that make the parent's apps and platforms (who they hire). The banks hire the most frontend engineers of any GCC group, though frontend is a smaller part of their hiring. Inside the banks and financial institutions, NatWest Group, Bank of America and Wells Fargo hire for the bank's wider engineering, and JPMorganChase and Societe Generale for new platforms. The work is React-led with a sizeable Angular share, and staff-level roles are more common at the banks than elsewhere (who they hire). Inside the media, entertainment and publishing groups, Comcast and Fox are small but hire frontend heavily and take juniors readily. More on frontend across the GCCs is in the GCCs' frontend and mobile hiring.

Big tech

Big tech hires few frontend specialists, because its engineers build their own screens. Microsoft hires the most. Amazon hires a few for its retail site, and Google a few more. The few openings take juniors readily.

Staffing firms and hiring platforms

The staffing companies, like BairesDev, Recro, Hireginie and TekWissen, place frontend engineers with clients, React-led with Next.js. The hiring platforms, like Uplers, Weekday AI, Turing and hackajob, offer remote React and Next.js work for companies abroad, and are open to juniors.

Where frontend is rarely hired

Frontend engineers are rarely hired by the chip makers or the companies that build data storage, whose products have few screens. The GCCs of the healthcare companies hire few as well.

Roles next door JavaScript and Node engineers build the same React screens and the server behind them. Java engineers and .NET engineers often work full-stack, with Angular or React on top. Mobile app engineers build the same kind of screens for phones. Test engineers automate the checks on what frontend engineers build. Terms used on this page B2C Business to consumer. A company that sells to people, usually through its own website or app. B2B Business to business. A company that sells software or services to other companies. GCC Global capability centre. A global company's own engineering centre in India, building software for its parent. React, Angular and Vue The three main frameworks for building screens in the browser. TypeScript JavaScript with types added, now the usual way to write frontend code. Next.js A framework built on React for whole websites, often with some server work. Full-stack A job that covers both the backend and the screens the user sees. Last updated October 2026.
