Enterprise SaaS and software Enterprise SaaS and software is the software a company runs itself on, as opposed to the software it sells. This Domain of the product-companies collection holds the companies that build it, and its Industry Verticals follow the departments of an ordinary company. There is the shared backbone of records, connections and automated work, then the finance department, the people department, marketing, sales, customer service and the IT department. Most of it is sold as SaaS, software as a service, rented by subscription and used in a browser, to companies of every size. Much of it is built in India, both in the engineering centres of software makers based abroad and in companies founded here that sell around the world.

Microsoft's business applications, such as Dynamics, are told separately. (More on them in Microsoft, in the big-tech collection.)

The Domain's seven Industry Verticals follow a company's departments in turn, ERP and business automation, Finance and accounting software, HR tech, Martech, CRM and sales tech, Customer service and CX, and IT management and workplace tools. Every company named in this Domain has posted software engineering jobs in India.

ERP and business automation

ERP and business automation is the backbone every department shares. Its companies keep the company's records, connect its applications, automate the work between them and sell AI agents to do some of it, like SAP, Infor, Boomi, UiPath and Docusign, and the whole picture is on the ERP and business automation page.

Finance and accounting software

Finance and accounting software is where the money is tracked. Its companies run buying, billing, the month-end close, the tax and the record of having done things properly, like Coupa, Chargebee, BlackLine, Anaplan and Diligent, and more is on the Finance and accounting software page.

HR tech

HR tech looks after the company's people. Its companies pay them, hire them, test and check them, train them and ask how they are doing, like Rippling, UKG, HackerRank, Cornerstone OnDemand and Leena AI, and more is on the HR tech page.

Martech

Martech is where a company finds its customers. Its companies send the right message at the right moment, build the customer profile, make the content and reward loyalty, like MoEngage, Adobe, Sprinklr, Epsilon and Capillary Technologies, and more is on the Martech page.

CRM and sales tech

CRM and sales tech is where the customer is won. Its companies keep the record of every deal and help the salesperson find, reach and close the buyer, like Salesforce, HubSpot, ZoomInfo, Clari and Seismic, and more is on the CRM and sales tech page.

Customer service and CX

Customer service and CX is where the customer is kept. Its companies answer every call, chat and ticket, through people and AI agents, and send a technician to the door when needed, like NiCE, Freshworks, Zendesk, Yellow.ai and Uniphore, and more is on the Customer service and CX page.

IT management and workplace tools

IT management and workplace tools keep the company's own people working. Their makers run the IT service desk, manage every laptop and desktop, and give employees shared places to plan work and find what the company knows, like ServiceNow, Ivanti, Citrix, Smartsheet and Notion, and more is on the IT management and workplace tools page.

Where the verticals meet

The Industry Verticals are separate departments on paper, but the largest companies keep reaching from one department into the next. Salesforce began with the CRM and now also sells marketing, customer service and, through MuleSoft, the integration platform that connects a company's applications. ServiceNow built a workflow engine for IT tickets and now runs HR requests and customer service on the same engine. Freshworks, founded in Chennai as a help desk, sells an IT service desk beside it. Rippling builds on the idea that the employee record should drive everything else, so its payroll product now reaches into company spending and the employee's laptop. That contest, between suites that cover several departments and specialists that do one job well, runs through the whole Domain.

AI agents are the second thread that ties the Domain together. Agents that do a clerk's work are sold as products in their own right in ERP and business automation, AI sellers write and send the sales email, conversational AI answers customers by chat and voice, and AI assistants like Atomicwork and Leena AI answer employees' IT and HR questions. ServiceNow agreed to buy Moveworks, one of those assistants, in 2025. GenAI engineers are among the largest groups hired in ERP and business automation, and the most common opening in CRM and sales tech.

Underneath, the engineering is much alike. These are large, long-lived business applications that keep records of people, money and customers, so Java engineers carry much of the work across the Domain, .NET engineers stand out in finance and IT software, and cloud engineers run all of it as services.

That is Domain IV, Enterprise SaaS and software, the software behind every department of an ordinary company, from the ledger and the payslip to the sales call, the support ticket and the employee's laptop.
