Finance and accounting software Finance and accounting software is what a company's finance department runs on. It buys from suppliers and keeps track of everything already bought, bills customers who pay by subscription, matches every transaction and closes the books each month, plans the budget, files the tax and keeps the record that the company has done things properly. This Industry Vertical holds the companies that sell that software, sitting on top of the ERP where the accounts themselves are kept.

These are business applications in which every number has to be right and every change has to leave an audit trail, and their buyers are finance, purchasing and compliance teams in companies of every kind. Some of its leaders were founded in India. Chargebee, founded in Chennai, is one of the few Indian software companies that leads its category worldwide. Zycus, GEP Worldwide and Procol sell procurement to customers around the world, and at the tax end, India's GST has created a compliance industry of its own. Global companies build here too, with Coupa in Pune, Flexera, BlackLine and Diligent in Bengaluru, and Anaplan in Delhi NCR.

For an engineer, this is careful work on large business applications. Java engineers build most of it, and .NET engineers are far more common here than at a typical product company, with testers and cloud engineers beside them. AI work is a larger part of hiring here than across product companies, building agents that read a tender, explain why a reconciliation does not match, prepare a tax return or draft a board pack for a person to check.

Finance and accounting software is one of the Industry Verticals of Domain IV, Enterprise SaaS and software. Every company named on this page has posted software engineering jobs in India.
