Salesforce engineers Engineers who build and run a company's Salesforce system, the software behind its customers, sales and service teams, and where in India they are hired. What this role isThe skills it needs The skills at a glance Apex Lightning Aura Visualforce SOQL

Job posts for this role ask most for Apex, Salesforce's own programming language, with Lightning, Aura and Visualforce for the screens, SOQL for the data, and Salesforce Flow for workflows. The areas asked for most are Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud and Experience Cloud, with OmniStudio for the industry editions, Agentforce for AI agents, and MuleSoft and the Salesforce API to connect other systems. The full story of what each skill is used for is on the skills page.

Where Salesforce engineers are hired A Salesforce engineer builds and runs the system that holds a company's customers, its sales pipeline, service cases, marketing and customer portals, partly by writing Apex code and partly by configuring Salesforce's ready-made clouds. SAP engineers work on the platform that runs a company's finance and supply chain, ServiceNow engineers on the one that runs its internal service desk, and JavaScript and Node engineers build custom web apps from scratch. Any company that sells to many customers runs Salesforce, so it is hired by banks, drugmakers, lenders and publishers alike. Accenture hires most of the Salesforce engineers in India, implementing it for clients, and the rest are spread across other services firms, the GCCs and a fair number of product companies. Most roles are mid-level, and the GCCs and product companies take juniors more readily than the services firms. Services firms

The services world holds most Salesforce work, and here the work is implementing Salesforce for clients. Accenture hires the most Salesforce engineers in India, mostly at the mid level, writing Apex across the Sales and Service clouds, and it is the main home of the industry editions built with OmniStudio (who they hire).

The services firms that feel like product companies, like EPAM, Brillio, Tavant and Terralogic, hire Salesforce engineers more heavily than any other services firms, for deep Apex and Lightning work. Mid-sized IT services firms, like Virtusa, Birlasoft, Mphasis and Zensar, build on the Sales Cloud, mostly with mid-level engineers. The quiet foreign majors, like CGI, NTT DATA and Sopra Steria, work across the Sales, Service and Marketing clouds. The consulting firms' engineering arms, like PwC India, Deloitte, McKinsey and KPMG India, ask for Agentforce more than anyone else in the market. YASH Technologies, Jade Global and Forsys, among the platform specialists in the specialist firms built around one skill, take juniors more readily. The other giants, like TCS, IBM and Capgemini, hire few Salesforce engineers. More on all of them is in the services world's Salesforce hiring.

GCCs

Among the GCCs, Salesforce engineers run the parent's own Salesforce system rather than a client's, for its own customers, patients, policyholders or guests.

The healthcare companies hire Salesforce engineers more heavily than any other GCC group. Inside pharma, medical and healthcare companies, Amgen, Takeda, Bristol Myers Squibb and Carelon run Salesforce for the parent's work with doctors, patients and members, at the centres that run the parent's wider engineering. The banks hire the most of any GCC group. Inside the banks and financial institutions, JPMorganChase, U.S. Bank and Barclays build on Salesforce for new platforms, and Wells Fargo and American Express hire for the bank's wider engineering, where juniors are more welcome. Inside the insurers, MetLife, Principal, AXA XL and The Standard hire them and are more open to juniors than most. Inside hotels, airlines, property firms and the rest, Marriott Tech Accelerator, Delta Air Lines, CBRE and JLL run guest, loyalty and client systems on Salesforce. Saint-Gobain, Cargill and Ecolab hire them among the manufacturers, and Mattel and Columbia Sportswear among the retailers, for their own internal systems. More on Salesforce across the GCCs is in the GCCs' Salesforce hiring.

Product companies

Among product companies, Salesforce engineers are hired where a company runs its own large customer operation on Salesforce, or sells a product that plugs into it. Salesforce itself builds its platform mostly with AI and Java engineers, and hires only a few Salesforce engineers of this kind.

Bajaj Finserv runs its loans and customer service on Salesforce, and is one of the largest Salesforce employers outside the services firms, building the apps for digital lending and BNPL. Celigo and DBSync build integration platforms (iPaaS) and managed file transfer, selling connectors between Salesforce and other business software. Pearson runs its school and learning business on Salesforce, and Docusign builds on Salesforce's Experience and Service clouds. RELX and Elsevier, which work in academic and scientific publishing, hire Salesforce engineers and take juniors readily. NiCE and Dialpad build contact-centre products that plug into Salesforce, and Morningstar, Moody's and S&P Global hire a few. The commerce, payments and manufacturing companies hire few.

Big tech

Big tech does not hire Salesforce engineers.

Staffing firms and hiring platforms

The staffing companies, like TekWissen, Recro and Live Connections, and the hiring platforms, like hackajob, place a few Salesforce engineers.

Where Salesforce is rarely hired

Salesforce engineers are rarely hired by big tech, by the commerce, payments and manufacturing product companies, or by the large services giants other than Accenture. The staffing firms and hiring platforms place few.
