What lending and credit hires for Industry Vertical 18, Lending and credit, in Domain V, Fintech. The short answer The companies in lending and credit build the software that decides who can borrow and then lends to them. Their products run the loan on a phone, the credit at the checkout, the loan to a small business and the finance for equipment and vehicles. Behind them sit the credit bureaus and rating agencies, like Experian, Equifax and Crisil, that keep everyone's credit history, and the decision engines that turn that history into a yes or a no. Most of the hiring is at Bajaj Finserv, India's largest consumer lender, and at the credit bureaus, each with very large centres in Pune and Hyderabad. The work is enterprise software built to strict rules, so Java and .NET engineers lead, both above their usual weight, and Salesforce developers are far more common than anywhere else, because Bajaj Finserv runs its loan sales and servicing on Salesforce. This is a mid-level workforce with an unusually wide door for juniors, and GenAI is less common here than at most product companies. Who gets hired, and why Java backend and full-stack .NET Salesforce Fintech Test Cloud and DevOps Frontend GenAI Data Also present

Java backend and full-stack engineers. A credit bureau stores the borrowing history of hundreds of millions of people and answers lenders' questions about them in a fraction of a second, and a lender's loan systems track every instalment. Java engineers build these systems, mostly at the credit bureaus, Bajaj Finserv and FICO, a credit-scoring company. They are the most common opening here, well above their usual weight, and most roles are full-stack, so the postings require Angular with Java and Spring Boot, tested with JUnit. Java takes the most juniors here.

.NET engineers. Much of the software that runs loan origination and asset finance was built on the Microsoft stack. .NET engineers build and extend it at Bajaj Finserv, Experian and the companies that sell lending software for equipment and vehicles, Solifi and Hive Financial Systems, in ASP.NET with Angular, Entity Framework and Azure. They are well above their usual weight here, and they take juniors more readily than in most verticals.

Salesforce developers. Bajaj Finserv runs much of its loan sales, onboarding and servicing on Salesforce. Salesforce developers build that work in Apex, Lightning Web Components and Visualforce, with Sales Cloud and Service Cloud. They are several times as common here as at a typical product company, almost all at Bajaj Finserv.

Software Engineer, Fintech. Lenders and credit platforms also hire under a plain software engineer title. Most of these roles are at Bajaj Finserv, building its app and web experience in Swift, Kotlin and JavaScript, alongside its loan services. Others are ordinary backend roles at the debt and invoice platforms, like Yubi and KredX, and the business lenders, like Biz2X and Liberis, in Java or Python with Spring Boot and Kafka, where lending is the setting rather than the skill. Together, fintech software engineers are several times as common here as at a typical product company, and the roles defined by the lending domain are hired with experience.

Test engineers. Testers hold slightly less than their usual place, mostly at the credit bureaus and Bajaj Finserv. They automate in Java with Playwright and Selenium, test mobile apps with Appium, and some test performance with JMeter.

Cloud and DevOps engineers. Cloud engineers are less common here than at most product companies. They run the bureaus' and FICO's platforms, in Python with AWS, Terraform and Kubernetes, and many postings also require Go.

Frontend engineers. Borrowers apply, track their loans and pay on screens built by frontend engineers in React and Angular, mostly at Bajaj Finserv.

GenAI engineers. GenAI is less common here than at most product companies. Where it appears, at OakNorth's India centre and the credit bureaus, it builds AI features for credit analysis and lending, in Python with the OpenAI API, LangChain and vector databases. These roles take juniors readily.

Data engineers. The bureaus and rating agencies run on data. Data engineers build the pipelines and the data-quality checks behind credit files and ratings, in Python and SQL with Presto and PySpark.

Also present. Adobe Experience Manager developers who build Bajaj Finserv's website, mobile engineers for the loan apps, JavaScript and Node engineers at the buy-now-pay-later companies, like Snapmint, platform developers, ServiceNow developers, and small groups of Python, Go and full-stack engineers at the young credit-data and lending companies, like CredHive and FinBox.

Rare here. C/C++ systems engineering, firmware and SAP barely appear.

What is changing

These readings follow the record quarter by quarter, from October to December 2025, the third quarter of the financial year 2025-26, to July to September 2026, the second quarter of 2026-27. A longer record will show whether they last.

Hiring fell hardAfter rising to a peak in April to June 2026, openings fell far more sharply than across product companies between July and September. AI is well behindAI work was a smaller share of hiring here than across product companies in every quarter, and the gap has not closed. Java peaked and easedJava's share was highest between January and March 2026, then eased. .NET and Salesforce grew in 2026both reaching their highest shares between April and June 2026. Cloud hiring rosebetween July and September 2026.
Persistently open roles

A little fewer jobs here are persistently open than across product companies.

.NET, Salesforce and the fintech roles defined by lending itself stay open longest. They are posted again more often than the same roles elsewhere. The skills that turn up most often in these jobs are Salesforce's Aura framework and API, Adobe Experience Manager, Angular testing tools such as Jasmine and Karma, and Playwright. GenAI, mobile, Node and Java jobs fill faster. FICO, Crisil, Experian and Bajaj Finserv are regularly hiring, keeping many of their jobs open again and again. Entry-level jobs stay open often. Unusually, entry-level jobs here are posted again more often than any other level. When a job is posted again, its first and last postings are typically about three weeks apart, and rarely more than about six weeks.
Where in the Industry Vertical the work is Market Segment 18.1

Digital lending and BNPL hires the most, almost all in India's consumer lenders, through Bajaj Finserv in Pune and Bengaluru. Java, .NET, Salesforce and fintech software engineers lead there, with frontend engineers and Adobe Experience Manager developers. Credit at the checkout and on the card hires Node engineers and testers, and The lenders of other countries hires Java engineers.

Market Segment 18.3

Credit bureaus, scoring and underwriting is a close second. The bureaus and the ratings is the Java corner, with .NET, cloud, test and data engineers beside them, through the credit bureaus in Pune and Hyderabad. The decision hires Java, GenAI and cloud engineers for credit-decision and scoring software, and The data read for the decision hires a little Python and Go work.

Market Segment 18.2

SME and business lending hires little. The lending software for equipment and vehicles hires .NET engineers, and the debt and invoice platforms hire fintech software engineers.

Market Segment 18.4

Banks and NBFCs hires little under the Indian banks' own names, like HDFC Bank and IDFC FIRST Bank, mostly Java engineers.

Some companies listed here have their main home elsewhere. They are ACV Auctions (Market Segment 38.5, in Industry Vertical 38, Automotive and mobility), Leap and WeMakeScholars (Market Segment 42.6, in Industry Vertical 42, Edtech) and Power2SME (Market Segment 26.5, in Industry Vertical 26, E-commerce and D2C brands). Their hiring is described where they live, not here.

Pune leads, through Bajaj Finserv and Equifax, which is rare in the product industry. Bengaluru is close behind, Hyderabad follows through Experian and the rating agencies, and Delhi NCR hires a little through young credit-data companies and OakNorth's centre.

The door

Entry and junior hiring is above the average for product companies, and senior and staff hiring is well below it, so this is a mid-level workforce with a wider door than most.

Java takes the most juniors, followed by .NET, test and GenAI. GenAI and mobile take them most readily in proportion. Bajaj Finserv takes the most juniors by far, followed by Equifax. Fintech roles defined by lending itself are hired almost entirely with experience.
In one line If you write Java or .NET with Angular, or you build on Salesforce, lending and credit is a large and open destination, centred on the consumer lenders and credit bureaus of Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and one of the better doors for juniors in the product industry. Terms used on this page Credit bureau is a company that keeps the borrowing and repayment history of people and businesses and sells it to lenders as a credit report and score, such as CIBIL or Experian. Buy now, pay later is credit offered at the checkout that splits a purchase into a few instalments. Adobe Experience Manager is Adobe's software for building and running large websites, used here for the lender's site.
