Ingrid — India’s software job market, decoded
Last week in the Indian software job market.
28 September – 3 October 2026
The Week
A week of old roles going back up - the biggest names re-advertised far more than they opened, and fresh hiring came from elsewhere.
- Job descriptions
- 2,322
- New this week

- Reposted

A large part of this week's board was roles going back up rather than new ones, and the biggest tech names and marketplaces leaned on that hardest - most of what they posted, they had posted before. The fresh hiring came from somewhere else: banks and their technology centres, consultancies, and mid-size firms. For choice rather than volume, software product companies again had the widest spread of employers, including several Indian product firms opening new roles.
Where the Hiring Was
Ranked by volume - and the new column beside it shows how much of each row was genuinely fresh this week.
| Postings | New | Employers | Biggest | Their share | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| IT Consultingmostly one employer | 486 | 378 | 68 | Accenture | 57% |
| SaaS | 485 | 270 | 156 | 6% | |
| Cloud Infrastructure | 330 | 124 | 33 | Amazon | 48% |
| Hardware & Semiconductors | 212 | 103 | 39 | Cisco | 17% |
| E-commercemostly one employer | 198 | 57 | 13 | Amazon | 80% |
| Banking & Finance | 197 | 158 | 32 | Societe Generale | 29% |
| Data & Analytics Platforms | 164 | 79 | 62 | SimCorp | 12% |
| AI & ML Platforms | 142 | 76 | 39 | 22% |
Consulting at the top is mostly one large consultancy, and e-commerce is mostly one online marketplace. Read those rows as each company's week rather than a sector-wide move - the employer column shows how few others were in them.
Many Doors, or One
The same week sorted by how many employers were hiring - the ranking that tells you where the real choice was.
| Postings | Employers | Biggest | Their share | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SaaS | 485 | 156 | 6% | |
| Data & Analytics Platforms | 164 | 62 | SimCorp | 12% |
| Industrial Manufacturing | 104 | 47 | Thermo Fisher Scientific | 14% |
| Fintech | 132 | 45 | Mastercard | 14% |
| Network & Security Infrastructure | 85 | 7 | Cisco | 41% |
| E-commercemostly one employer | 198 | 13 | Amazon | 80% |
New roles in the widest sector
The bottom rows hold plenty of postings but little choice: network security is a handful of firms, and e-commerce is mostly one marketplace. The top of the table is the opposite - software product companies, data platforms and industrial firms each spread across a wide field of employers.
Re-Advertised
Where most of the week's activity was employers putting roles they had already advertised back on the board.
| Postings | New | Reposted | Repost rate | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Logistics & Supply Chainmostly one employer | 81 | 24 | 57 | 70% |
| Cloud Infrastructure | 330 | 124 | 206 | 62% |
| Network & Security Infrastructure | 85 | 33 | 52 | 61% |
| Cybersecurity | 141 | 60 | 81 | 57% |
| Hardware & Semiconductors | 212 | 103 | 109 | 51% |
In every row here, more roles went back up than were opened fresh. Logistics is mostly one parcel carrier re-advertising the same openings week after week, so read that row as that company's habit. A role going back up is one its employer is still actively advertising.
Who Was Hiring
Volume, how much of it was new, how many separate doors each kind of employer represents - and whether it takes newcomers.
| Postings | New | Employers | Their share | Open to newcomers | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Non-tech MNC | 557 | 353 | 71 | 50% | 6% |
| Tech MNC | 533 | 300 | 123 | 7% | 9% |
| Established SME | 302 | 178 | 132 | 6% | 10% |
| MAANGmostly one employer | 235 | 68 | 6 | 67% | 7% |
| GCC | 161 | 142 | 16 | 35% | 12% |
| Unicorn | 93 | 43 | 40 | 13% | 9% |
| Soonicorn | 75 | 27 | 46 | 8% | 7% |
| IT Services Major | 26 | 21 | 4 | 46% | 4% |
The biggest tech names are mostly one online marketplace this week, and most of what that group posted was re-advertised rather than new. Global capability centres were the reverse - almost everything they posted was fresh, led by a European bank's technology centre.
What They Wanted, and Where

How This Was Counted
Every job description posted or put back up during the week, counted once, minus staffing agencies and employers we could not classify. A role counts as new if it first appeared this week, and as re-advertised if it appeared before and went back up now. A role open all week but never re-posted leaves no trace, so nothing here says a role was filled.
