Ingrid — India’s software job market, decoded
Last week in the Indian software job market.
7–12 September 2026
The Week
The biggest block on the board is one firm wearing an industry's name.

Sort the week by volume and consulting tops it, but most of that block belongs to a single firm, so read it as that company's week rather than an industry's. Sort the same week by how many separate employers were hiring and the picture inverts: software-as-a-service comes first, spread across more companies than any other sector, with no one name close to leading it. The mid-sized firms make the same point from the other end, putting more separate employers on the board than the tech multinationals managed on a fraction of the volume. One thing barely moves, though: the share of openings aimed at people just starting out sits at much the same level in nearly every category.
Where the Hiring Was
Ranked by volume. Whether a row describes an industry or a company is settled by the column beside it.
| Postings | New | Employers | Biggest | Their share | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| IT Consultingmostly one employer | 478 | 475 | 56 | Accenture | 62% |
| SaaS | 295 | 257 | 111 | 8% | |
| Cloud Infrastructure | 161 | 144 | 27 | Amazon | 32% |
| Banking & Finance | 160 | 154 | 22 | JPMorganChase | 41% |
| Hardware & Semiconductors | 122 | 114 | 39 | Cisco | 19% |
| Wealth Managementmostly one employer | 115 | 109 | 13 | JPMorganChase | 57% |
| Fintech | 94 | 87 | 29 | Mastercard | 18% |
| Data & Analytics Platforms | 91 | 76 | 44 | Databricks | 12% |
The row at the top and the wealth row are each more than half a single employer. Neither describes an industry; both describe one company's week inside it. The rows that carry weight here are the ones where the employer count is high and the leading name holds only a small slice of the total.
Many Doors, or One
Now by how many employers were actually hiring. This is the ranking to act on.
Widest open
| Postings | Employers | Biggest | Their share | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SaaS | 295 | 111 | 8% | |
| Data & Analytics Platforms | 91 | 44 | Databricks | 12% |
| Cybersecurity | 82 | 29 | Zscaler | 13% |
Narrowest
| Postings | Employers | Biggest | Their share | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Network & Security Infrastructure | 59 | 10 | Cisco | 39% |
| Wealth Managementmostly one employer | 115 | 13 | JPMorganChase | 57% |
| E-commercemostly one employer | 69 | 11 | Amazon | 74% |
At the wide end no single name is anywhere near dominant and the openings come from a long list of separate teams. The narrow end is the opposite: the online-retail row is overwhelmingly one company and the wealth row is mostly one bank, so each describes an employer rather than a market. Same week, opposite advice.

Re-Advertised
Where employers chose to run a role again instead of opening a new one.
| Postings | Reposted | Repost rate | Employers | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cybersecurity | 82 | 17 | 21% | 29 |
| AI & ML Platforms | 85 | 17 | 20% | 28 |
| Network & Security Infrastructure | 59 | 11 | 19% | 10 |
| Cloud Infrastructure | 161 | 17 | 11% | 27 |
| Fintech | 94 | 7 | 7% | 29 |
A repost means the employer put the same role back up. Across a single week the numbers are small everywhere, so read this as a comparison between sectors and not as a level. It is neutral too: a role can be re-advertised because the search is genuinely hard, or simply because a listing was refreshed.
Who Was Hiring
Volume, the number of separate employers behind it, and how much of it was aimed at people starting out.
| Postings | Employers | Open to newcomers | Biggest | Their share | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Non-tech MNCmostly one employer | 502 | 56 | 7% | Accenture | 59% |
| Tech MNC | 268 | 92 | 10% | Cisco | 9% |
| Established SME | 221 | 108 | 10% | Happiest Minds Technologies | 6% |
| GCCmostly one employer | 105 | 12 | 11% | JPMorganChase | 63% |
| MAANGmostly one employer | 101 | 5 | 10% | Amazon | 51% |
| Unicorn | 57 | 26 | 9% | Kaseya | 12% |
| IT Services Majormostly one employer | 52 | 5 | 4% | TCS (Tata Group) | 73% |
| Soonicorn | 47 | 29 | 6% | Abnormal Security | 13% |
Several rows here are mostly one company each: the non-tech multinationals, the captive centres, the biggest global names and the services majors. Read those as an employer's week rather than a category's. The rows describing a real field are the tech multinationals and the mid-sized firms, and the mid-sized firms put more separate employers on the board than any other kind.
What They Wanted, and Where
What each kind of employer was asking for, and where they were looking for it.
| Most-wanted roles | Where | |
|---|---|---|

The services majors are again the only group whose hiring sits outside the southern tech belt, with their largest share in the east. Everyone else concentrates on Bangalore, the biggest global names most heavily of all. Note that this row, the non-tech multinational row and the global-names row are each mostly a single employer.
How This Was Counted
Every figure counts job descriptions posted publicly during the week, recorded on the day they went up. This week ran its full span, with no day left out. A posting is counted again only if the employer reposts it, so nothing here says a role was filled. Silence only means it was not re-advertised. Staffing-agency listings are excluded.
