AI doubt solving is a feature of a coaching app in which an AI model answers a student's question at any hour, in Hindi or English, and then sets practice questions aimed at the student's weak points. In Indian coaching, a doubt means any question that a student has about a topic or a problem. Answering doubts used to need teachers or doubt-solving experts for each subject, mostly during the day.

How does it work? The student types the question, or photographs it from a book. The AI model reads the photo, including any diagram and equations. It writes a step-by-step solution and explains each step in the language the student chose. The student can then ask follow-up questions about any step. A model that teaches in this way is called an AI tutor.

Imagine a NEET student in Gorakhpur who is studying at 1:30 a.m. She is stuck on a chemistry problem: how many grams of water form when 4 g of hydrogen burns completely in oxygen? She photographs it and asks for the answer in Hindi. Within seconds, the app writes the balanced equation, 2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O. It explains that 4 g of hydrogen is 2 moles, that 2 moles of hydrogen give 2 moles of water, and that 2 moles of water weigh 36 g. She asks why 4 g is 2 moles, and the app explains molar mass. Then it gives her five similar problems from the question bank, each a little harder than the last.

The weak point is accuracy. An AI model can give a wrong answer with full confidence. This is called AI hallucination. In exam preparation, a wrong method learnt at night can cost marks months later. So coaching companies add checks. When the question is already in the company's question bank, the model is given the checked solution to work from. Students can mark an answer as wrong. Marked answers, and questions the model is unsure of, go to a subject expert, who replies within a few hours.

The feature also builds a record of each student. Each doubt is tagged with its chapter. Say a student asks many doubts about one chapter and also loses marks on it in online mock tests. The app then sets more practice on that chapter.

Why does it matter? India's cheapest coaching teaches lakhs of students per teacher, in live online classes. A teacher cannot answer every doubt from every student. AI doubt solving can, at any hour. This is why every large online coaching platform is building it.
