A home interior design platform is a company that sells a finished interior for a home: the 3D design, a quote that lists every item, modular furniture made in its own factory, and the installation. It is also called an interior design company or a modular interiors company. Its customers are mainly families who have just bought a new flat, which in India usually comes as bare rooms.

The platform's software joins four steps that used to be done by different people. A designer draws the rooms in 3D design software. The same software counts every cabinet, shutter, hinge and square foot of laminate in the design, which is called quantity takeoff, and prices each item. When the family approves the design, the software sends the cutting list, the exact size of every panel, to the platform's factory. There, CNC machines cut and drill the panels. Finally, a team installs everything in the flat, and the platform gives a warranty on the work.

Here is a typical case. A family in Gurugram has bought a 3BHK flat. They want a modular kitchen, three wardrobes, a TV unit and a false ceiling in the living room. A designer measures the flat, and in the second meeting shows them the rooms in 3D. The quote lists 214 items and comes to ₹8.2 lakh: ₹2.7 lakh for the kitchen, ₹3.3 lakh for the wardrobes, ₹0.8 lakh for the TV unit, and ₹1.4 lakh for the false ceiling, lights and painting. The family changes the kitchen shutters from laminate to acrylic, and the quote updates at once to ₹8.5 lakh. They pay in stages: a booking amount, a larger payment when production starts, and the rest at handover. Five weeks later the panels arrive, and the installation takes twelve days.

Why does the factory matter? Furniture built by a carpenter inside the flat depends on one person's skill and time. Panels cut by machine from the design come out at exactly the size drawn, and the platform knows their cost before the work starts. That is what lets it give a fixed price up front.

The platform buys appliances, tiles and hardware from suppliers, often through an online marketplace. Kitchen designs may come from kitchen design software. Many families pay through cardless EMI or a personal loan, and some platforms also sell an extended warranty. The newest step in the design process is AI interior design, which turns a photograph of a room into a redesign.
