Graphic design software receives drafts from generative AI and viewer reactions from emotion AI, the designer edits photos, logos and video in it, and the finished files go to the printer, the pack and the sales team.

Graphic design software is the professional software in which designers edit photos, draw logos and graphics, lay out pages and cut videos. It is also called creative software or a creative suite, because one company often sells the tools together as a bundle. Most marketing content in the world, from a newspaper advertisement to a hoarding, is made in it.

The suite holds several tools, and each does one kind of work. A photo editor changes the pixels of a photo. A pixel is one tiny coloured dot, and a photo is made of millions of them. A vector drawing tool stores a logo as lines and curves instead. So the logo stays sharp at any size, from a visiting card to a hoarding. A layout tool arranges text and images into a brochure or a magazine page. A video editor cuts and joins video clips and adds sound. Most suites are now sold as a monthly or yearly subscription, for each designer.

Consider a designer at a jewellery brand in Jaipur, preparing its Akshaya Tritiya campaign. She opens the product photo of a gold necklace in the photo editor. She removes a speck of dust and brightens the metal. The photo is square, but the hoarding is wide. So she uses the editor's generative fill: she selects the empty space at the sides, and an AI model draws more of the velvet background to fill it. She then draws the festive logo in the vector tool, and cuts a 20-second video for the brand's social media accounts. Finally, she exports the hoarding as a print-ready file and sends it to the printer, through an online printing service.

This is the main change in the industry. The tools used to only edit what a person had made. Now AI models inside them generate images, backgrounds and video from a typed description. When a team needs hundreds of versions of one design, it often uses generative AI for marketing content, which makes the versions on brand and in bulk. Content made by models brings new questions, such as who owns it and how to label it. These are covered under AI-generated content.

The suite also holds the brand's assets: logos, colours and fonts. Fonts are not free to use in business. A brand pays for them through font licensing. Photographers who shoot thousands of images use AI photo editing to choose and edit the best ones.

Finished pack artwork goes to the printer, and approved brochures go to sales enablement software, where the sales team finds them.

How is it different from video creation software? The suite is made for trained designers and gives full control. Video creation software gives someone who is not a designer ready templates, so they can make a simple video quickly.
