A digital sales room is a private web page that a seller sets up for one buyer. Both sides share the material for a deal there and agree the next steps, and the seller can see what the buyer read. It is also called a deal room or a buyer engagement page.
In a B2B sale, several people on the buyer's side take part: the people who will use the product, the department head, finance, IT and the purchase team. Without a shared page, the material is scattered across dozens of emails. People forward old versions. The seller does not know who has seen what, and the buyer loses track of what is still pending.
The sales room puts everything in one place. The seller adds the presentation, a recorded demonstration, case studies, the security document, the quote and the draft contract. The seller also adds a mutual action plan. This is a shared list of the steps that both sides must complete before the deal can be signed, each with an owner and a date. People on the buyer's side open the page from a link, without needing an account. They can comment, ask questions and invite colleagues. The page records which person opened which item and for how long, and it alerts the seller when a new person from the buyer visits. The quote in the room can come straight from CPQ, and some products let the buyer accept and sign it there.
For instance, a Chandigarh company sells a learning management system to engineering colleges. It is negotiating with a group that runs six colleges in Punjab. The salesperson sets up a sales room with seven items and a plan of nine steps, ending with signing on 15 December. Over two weeks, 11 people from the college group open the room. The IT head reads the security document three times, and asks two questions in the comments. The director of finance opens only the quote. Then a new visitor appears: the group's chairman, who spends 12 minutes on the case study. The salesperson now knows that the chairman is involved in the decision, and asks for a meeting with him. On 3 December, step 7 of the plan, the IT review, is marked done.
Digital sales rooms are often part of a sales enablement platform or a CPQ product. The record of who viewed what goes back to the CRM. There, revenue intelligence can use it as one more sign of how active the deal is.
