Agentic integration is a way of connecting a company's applications in which the connection is described in plain words instead of being drawn step by step, and an AI agent decides which systems to call each time. An AI agent is AI software that is given a goal and access to tools, and then decides by itself which steps to take. Agentic integration is the newest feature of integration platforms.

On an ordinary integration platform, a person draws every step: when this happens, read this field, write it there. The connection does exactly that, every time. When something new happens, such as a request that does not fit the steps, the connection fails. In agentic integration, the person writes the goal and the rules. The agent reads each case, picks the systems and the steps, and records what it did.

Imagine a rooftop solar installer in Jaipur. Its operations manager writes: "When a customer accepts a quote in the CRM, set up the installation. Create a project in the ERP. Reserve the panels and the inverter from stock. If anything is short, raise a purchase order. Book a survey visit within three days, and tell the customer the date." One afternoon, a customer accepts a quote for a 5 kW system, worth ₹2.9 lakh. The agent reads the quote and creates the project. It checks the stock and finds 12 panels, but no 5 kW inverter. So it raises a purchase order for one inverter. It finds a free survey slot on Thursday, and sends the customer an SMS with the date. Every call it made to every system is written to a log.

This approach saves the work of drawing hundreds of steps by hand. But it brings new risks. The agent may misread a case, or call a system it should not. So companies give the agent its own login, with limited permissions, using AI agent identity and security tools. They also ask a person to approve any action that spends money above a limit, such as a purchase order above ₹50,000. This is the idea of human in the loop.

The agent that runs the connection can also be one of the company's AI agents for enterprise work. So integration platforms are becoming the place where a company's agents get their access to its systems. The general idea is explained on the page on agentic automation.
