On this page
What staffing companies hire for Company Tier 1, Staffing companies, in the staffing-and-platforms collection. The short answer A staffing firm posts a job because a client asked it to fill one. So the roles here are the roles that banks, insurers, carmakers, IT services firms and American enterprises wanted filled through a staffing firm, and the posting names the firm, not the client. Read that way, the mix looks like the services world rather than the product industry. Java engineers are much the largest role, more so than almost anywhere else. SAP and ServiceNow work runs at several times its usual weight, because clients hand their packaged-platform roles to staffing firms more readily than their core product work. Embedded firmware engineers have a real place, found by a handful of specialist agencies, like TekPillar and Mulya Technologies, for engineering clients. .NET engineers are a steady stream, mostly through BairesDev, which staffs American client teams from India. GenAI engineers were slow to arrive and then jumped between July and September 2026. Cloud engineers are hired well below their usual weight. The door is narrow, most work is in Bengaluru, and a job here is rarely open for long.

What a posting does not say is as important as what it does. Whether the engineer joins the client's payroll or stays on the staffing firm's, whether the job is a contract or a permanent one, and which client the work is for, are not in the posting. (More on how that split works in Company Tier 1, Staffing companies, in the staffing-and-platforms collection.)

Who gets hired, and why Java backend and full-stack SAP ServiceNow Embedded firmware .NET Test GenAI Frontend Cloud and DevOps Data Python Also present

Java backend and full-stack engineers. Clients of staffing firms are mostly large enterprises and the IT services firms that serve them, and the application work they farm out is overwhelmingly Java. Java engineers are much the largest role here, well above their weight at product and services companies, and every kind of staffing firm posts them, from the global groups, like Insight Global and TEKsystems, to the smallest agencies. The postings require Spring Boot with React or Angular on top, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, Kafka and Kubernetes, and relational databases. Most of this work is at senior level, and it is the role that defines Chennai here, through TekWissen.

SAP engineers. Running SAP is work that enterprises are used to buying by the head, so staffing firms carry it at several times its weight at product and services companies. The postings require SAP S/4HANA and ABAP, Materials Management, Fiori and Core Data Services, which are the tools for building screens and reports inside SAP. TekWissen and Wissen Infotech post nearly all of it, in Chennai and Bengaluru, and it is hired senior.

ServiceNow, Oracle and Power Platform engineers. The same logic brings the other packaged platforms. ServiceNow developers are well above their usual weight, and the postings require ServiceNow ITSM with client scripts, Flow Designer and Script Includes, which are its ways of adding logic and automation. Oracle application and database work, Oracle Integration Cloud, Microsoft Power Platform with Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps, and Pega make up the rest. Together the packaged platforms are among the largest families of work here. Salesforce work is small.

Embedded firmware engineers. Engineering clients, in cars, devices and chips, ask staffing firms for firmware engineers, and a handful of small recruitment agencies and IT staffing firms specialise in finding them, TekPillar and Mulya Technologies most of all. Embedded firmware engineers are above their usual weight, and the postings require C and C++ with the Linux kernel and embedded Linux, device drivers, CAN bus, real-time operating systems, SPI and I2C, bootloaders and Yocto. Some of it is automotive work, and nearly all of it is in Bengaluru. C/C++ systems engineers on Linux, who work on the kernel, board support and TCP/IP networking, are a smaller group beside them, below their usual weight, and they take a few juniors.

.NET engineers. Much of the .NET work here is one story. BairesDev, a software-outsourcing firm that staffs American client teams from India, posts by far the largest share of it, and the rest comes from the PEO Vensure Employer Solutions, TrueBlue India and a scatter of IT staffing firms. The postings require C# and ASP.NET Core with SQL Server, React or Angular, and Azure or AWS. .NET sits at about its usual weight, and it is hired almost entirely with experience, at mid level more than any other role here. It is also the role behind Mumbai and Kolkata, where BairesDev posts nearly all of it, and much of Delhi NCR.

Test engineers. Testing is below its usual weight here, which is unusual for work that clients so often outsource. What there is runs on automation. The postings require Java with Playwright and Selenium, REST Assured and Postman for testing APIs, Jenkins, JMeter for performance testing and Cucumber. Manual and performance testing are small beside it.

GenAI engineers. Staffing firms were slow to post GenAI work and then caught up. GenAI engineers were below their usual weight over the record as a whole, but their share jumped between July and September 2026, to one of the larger roles. The postings are mostly for building applications on large language models rather than wiring them into existing software, and they require Python with LangChain and LangGraph, the OpenAI API, FastAPI and Pinecone, a database for the vectors such applications search. The work is spread thinly across many firms, from TekWissen and HuntingCube Recruitment Solutions to Recrew AI, an AI recruiting start-up, and HuntingCube Recruitment Solutions led the jump.

Frontend engineers. Clients ask for frontend engineers to build the screens of enterprise applications, and they are above their usual weight here. The postings require React most of all, with Angular, TypeScript, Next.js and responsive design, and some expect UX design too. Nearly all of it is in Bengaluru, and BairesDev is the largest single source.

Cloud and DevOps engineers. Cloud work is where staffing firms differ most from the rest of the market. Cloud and DevOps engineers are well below their usual weight, which fits clients keeping their platform teams in house and buying application engineers by the head instead. The postings require Python and Java with Kubernetes, AWS, Go, Terraform and Jenkins, and a larger share than usual are infrastructure and systems-administration roles rather than cloud-native platform work.

Data engineers. Data engineers are at about their usual weight. The postings require Python and SQL with Spark, PySpark, ETL tools, Databricks, Hadoop and Scala, the classic data-pipeline stack of a large enterprise. They are hired senior, and almost all in Bengaluru.

Python, full-stack and Node engineers. Three smaller roles share one feature. They are the ones that let juniors in. Python backend engineers, at nearly twice their usual weight, build services in FastAPI, Flask and Django, often with React, and OrbiTouch HR, an HR-outsourcing firm, posts more of them than anyone. Full-stack engineers who work in React with Python or Angular on any backend are above their usual weight, and they take juniors more readily than any other role here. JavaScript and Node full-stack engineers, in Node.js with React and TypeScript, are posted by Recro, Recrew AI and a scatter of small staffing firms.

Also present. Mobile engineers in Kotlin and Swift, mostly Android, with a real junior intake, posted most by Recro. Mainframe engineers in COBOL and JCL, with AS/400 and RPG, which TekWissen posts for its enterprise clients, all senior. Generalist software engineers, whose postings name no particular stack, mostly ordinary Java and Python backend work for clients in many industries. Software Engineer, Fintech, software engineers placed with banks, brokers and payment firms, a small group whose work is mostly ordinary backend work where finance is the setting, though a few postings require the FIX protocol. A few Go engineers and a few CAD engineering roles.

Rare here. Security software engineers, ML engineers and chip designers barely appear.

These readings follow the record quarter by quarter, from October to December 2025, the third quarter of the financial year 2025-26, to July to September 2026, the second quarter of 2026-27. A longer record will show whether they last.

Hiring held upStaffing firms posted at a remarkably even pace, rising a little to January to March 2026 and easing after it. They posted fewer openings in July to September 2026 than in April to June, but the fall was far gentler than at product companies, which roughly halved between the two. GenAI arrived late and fastAI work was a smaller share of staffing postings than of product and services postings in every quarter until July to September 2026, when GenAI engineers jumped to one of the larger roles and the gap closed. Java heldJava engineers were the largest role in every quarter, with no sign of easing. Embedded and .NET peaked in April to June 2026and fell back in July to September. Frontend and testing fadedBoth were sizeable in October to December 2025 and shrank through 2026, frontend to a small role by July to September. The door opened a littleEntry and junior openings were a larger share in July to September 2026 than in October to December 2025.
Persistently open roles

Far fewer jobs are persistently open here than at product and services companies. A staffing firm's posting is usually filled or withdrawn and not seen again.

ServiceNow jobs are the exception. They stay open as often as anywhere else, and ServiceNow ITSM and client scripts are the skills most often found in persistently open jobs here. Cloud, data, Node and embedded jobs stay open more than the rest. Java, SAP, .NET and mobile jobs fill fastest. AI jobs also fill faster than the others. Entry-level jobs stay open most, the reverse of product companies, which fits an agency keeping a fresher opening up while it looks. A few small firms keep their jobs open again and again, Mulya Technologies most of all, followed by Aditi India and Golden Opportunities. TekWissen keeps somewhat more of its jobs open than the average firm here, and BairesDev about as many. How long they stay open. When a job is posted again, its first and last postings are typically about ten days apart, and rarely more than a month.
Where in the Company Tier the work is

The firms here are listed by kind rather than by Market Segment, and the kinds hire differently.

The established row, the large staffing groups and their technology arms, posts more than any other group. It is Java, .NET through BairesDev, SAP through TekWissen and Wissen Infotech, frontend and full-stack work. Recruitment agencies and search firms, like HuntingCube Recruitment Solutions and Golden Opportunities, are the clear second. They post Java first, then embedded firmware, testing, cloud, GenAI and data, and they are where the specialist embedded agencies sit. IT staffing and contract staffing firms, like People Prime Worldwide and Mulya Technologies, post Java, embedded firmware, GenAI, C/C++ systems and .NET work, and many of the generalist software engineer roles. IT staffing combined with IT services, at firms like Teamware Solutions and Aditi India, posts Java, data and test engineers. The ordinary row is Java, embedded and GenAI in small numbers. RPO, workforce management and HR outsourcing firms post little engineering, mostly .NET through Vensure Employer Solutions and TrueBlue India and Python through OrbiTouch HR. The general and specialist staffing groups, like Insight Global, Adecco and Quess Corp, post least of all, despite being among the largest employers on the list. Their software engineering postings are few.

One firm listed here has its main home elsewhere. Akkodis is covered in Company Tier 6, Where the work is hardware, cars and chips, in the services-world collection, and its hiring is described there.

Bengaluru has most of the work and every role in it. Chennai is a strong second, almost entirely through TekWissen, and it is where the SAP work and a good part of the Java work is. Hyderabad comes largely through TriNet, with a scatter of IT staffing firms beside it. Delhi NCR comes through BairesDev, Questhiring and HuntingCube Recruitment Solutions. Pune is spread across many small firms, like PRI IT Services, Zigsaw and Info Origin.

The door

The door is narrow. Entry and junior hiring is below the average for product and services companies, and staff-level hiring is below it too. Most of what staffing firms post is mid and senior, because a client that buys an engineer by the head wants someone who can start on Monday.

Full-stack, Node, Python and mobile roles take the most juniors, and C/C++ systems roles take a few. Java, .NET, SAP, cloud and data roles are hired almost entirely with experience. .NET has almost no junior openings at all. Junior openings appear most at HuntingCube Recruitment Solutions in Bengaluru and TriNet in Hyderabad.
In one line If you write enterprise Java, run SAP or ServiceNow, or build firmware for vehicles and devices, staffing firms are a steady second route into the same client work, with experience, and GenAI roles are arriving through them at last.
