What electronics and device companies hire for Industry Vertical 36, Electronics and devices, in Domain IX, Semiconductors and devices. The short answer The companies in Electronics and devices build the things people hold, use at home and work with, and the software inside them. Their products are home appliances, lighting and the connected home, the devices people carry, PCs and printers, and the scanners, screens and sound equipment of shops, warehouses and studios. The two largest PC makers hire in India too, but their main home is elsewhere, so hiring here is modest. Zebra Technologies, a maker of rugged scanners and handheld computers, hires the most, with the appliance maker Electrolux Group and the display company Barco behind. A device has to work every time, so test engineers and embedded firmware engineers are each more than twice as common here as at a typical product company, and Android on the device makes mobile engineers more than twice as common too. Java, cloud and GenAI engineers are less common than usual. Hiring rose to a peak in April to June 2026 and then fell more sharply than across product companies. Who gets hired, and why Test Embedded firmware Java backend and full-stack Mobile .NET Scanner software SAP Also present

Test engineers. An appliance, a scanner or a conference-room display is tested over and over before it ships, and again with every update. Test engineers do this at Electrolux Group, Zebra Technologies, the PC-accessory maker Logitech and Barco, in Java and Python with Selenium, Robot Framework and Playwright, and some on mobile, performance and embedded testing. They are more than twice as common here as at a typical product company, and they are hired almost entirely with experience.

Embedded firmware engineers. Every lamp, washing machine, projector and speaker has software inside it. Firmware engineers write it in C and C++ on microcontrollers and ARM, with RTOS, embedded Linux and device drivers, and connect it over USB, I2C, SPI and TCP/IP. The lighting company Signify, Barco, the appliance maker Whirlpool, Zebra Technologies and the audio-equipment maker QSC hire them. They are more than twice as common here as elsewhere, and a part of the work is Android on the device itself.

Java backend and full-stack engineers. Zebra Technologies and Electrolux Group build the cloud services behind their devices in Java, often full-stack with Angular or React, on Kubernetes and AWS or GCP. Java is far less common here than at most product companies.

Mobile engineers. Zebra Technologies' handheld computers run Android, and the company hires most of the mobile engineers here, in Kotlin and Java with the Android framework. Logitech hires the rest. Mobile engineers are more than twice as common here as elsewhere.

.NET engineers. Resideo, a home-security and comfort company, builds its connected-home platform on the Microsoft stack and hires most of the .NET engineers here, in C# and TypeScript on Azure. Electrolux Group and the printer maker Xerox hire the rest. .NET holds about its usual place.

Software engineers at the scanner maker. Zebra Technologies hires a group of engineers under general titles, many of them straight from college. They take more juniors than any other group here.

SAP developers. Electrolux Group runs its manufacturing and sales on SAP and hires SAP developers in numbers several times their usual weight.

Also present. Cloud engineers at Barco, Zebra Technologies and Signify, C/C++ systems engineers at Zebra Technologies and Logitech, Node engineers in Angular and TypeScript at Barco, generalist software engineers in Electronics and devices at Electrolux Group, a few ML and GenAI engineers at Zebra Technologies and Barco, and data engineers.

Rare here. Security, Python and Go work barely appear.

The skills that set Electronics and devices apart Software inside the deviceC and C++ on microcontrollers and ARM, with RTOS, embedded Linux, device drivers, USB, I2C and SPI. Testing the deviceSelenium, Robot Framework and Playwright, in Java and Python. Android on the deviceKotlin with the Android framework, in the mobile and firmware postings. The connected home on AzureC# with TypeScript on Azure, in the .NET postings. What is changing

These readings follow the record quarter by quarter, from October to December 2025, the third quarter of the financial year 2025-26, to July to September 2026, the second quarter of 2026-27. Hiring here is modest, so a longer record will show whether they last.

A rise and a sharp fallOpenings grew strongly from a quiet end to 2025 to a peak in April to June 2026, then fell between July and September much more sharply than across product companies. Firmware grewEmbedded firmware took a larger share of hiring in April to June 2026 and held much of it, while Java's share fell after January to March. AI is behindAI work was a smaller share of hiring here than across product companies in every quarter.
Persistently open roles

More jobs here are persistently open than across product companies.

.NET, Java and mobile roles stay open longest. They are posted again far more often than the same roles elsewhere, and test and firmware roles stay open longer than usual too. The skills that turn up most often in these jobs are JUnit and Kotlin, PostgreSQL and MongoDB, and C# with .NET and TypeScript. Senior and staff roles are the hardest to fill, while entry and junior jobs fill quickly. Signify, Barco and Electrolux Group are regularly hiring, keeping many of their jobs open again and again. Zebra Technologies does so less often. How long they stay open. When a job is posted again, its first and last postings are typically about four weeks apart, and rarely more than about ten weeks.
Where in the Industry Vertical the work is Market Segment 36.3

Enterprise devices and professional AV equipment hires the most, in Scanners, screens, sound and control, through Zebra Technologies in Bengaluru and Pune, Barco in Delhi NCR and QSC. Firmware, test, mobile, Java and Node engineers lead there, and it is the most open corner for juniors.

Market Segment 36.1

Smart home appliances and consumer electronics is almost as large. Appliances and the connected home hires test, firmware, .NET, Java and SAP engineers at the appliance makers, like Electrolux Group and Whirlpool, and at Signify and Resideo, and The devices you carry and use hires test, mobile and firmware engineers at Logitech and the phone maker Motorola Mobility. This corner hires mostly with experience.

Market Segment 36.2

PCs, laptops and printers hires very little of its own, a few test, .NET and C/C++ engineers at the printer maker Xerox and the PC and printer maker HP.

Some companies listed here have their main home elsewhere. They are Dell Technologies and Lenovo (Market Segment 3.2, in Industry Vertical 3, Data centres and servers) and Beckman Coulter Life Sciences (Market Segment 25.2, in Industry Vertical 25, Pharma and life sciences). Dell alone posts more jobs than all the companies whose home is here, and their hiring is described where they live.

Bengaluru has most of the work, through Zebra Technologies, Electrolux Group, Signify and Resideo. Delhi NCR is Barco, Pune is Zebra Technologies and Whirlpool, Chennai is Logitech, and Kolkata is the printer makers, Xerox and Lexmark.

The door

Entry and junior hiring is above the average for product companies, almost all of it at one company, and senior hiring is above it too.

Zebra Technologies takes most of the juniors, many of them under general software engineer titles, and firmware takes a few at other companies. Enterprise devices and professional AV equipment is the most open corner. The appliance makers hire mostly with experience. Test, mobile and Node roles are hired almost entirely with experience.
In one line If you write firmware in C or test devices end to end, Electronics and devices is a steady destination in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR and Pune, and Android engineers will find a rare home in handheld scanners. Terms used on this page Firmware is the software built into a device that controls its hardware directly. RTOS, a real-time operating system, is an operating system that guarantees a response within a fixed time, used in devices and machines. I2C, SPI and USB are the standard ways the chips inside a device, and the device and a computer, talk to each other. Robot Framework is an open-source tool for writing automated tests in plain keywords, widely used to test devices.
