The scanner that sees.
The barcode scanner is becoming a camera with an AI model behind it. It can read a damaged label, count the stock on a shelf, and check that a parcel matches its order. Zebra and its rivals are putting AI models on handheld devices for the workers who carry them. The device becomes an assistant as much as a tool.
That is professional equipment: scanners, screens and sound systems, sold to businesses, built to last, and managed in fleets by software. Several of its makers build that software in India.
