
Who runs a society. In India, the flats in a society are usually owned by the residents. The owners elect a managing committee, often through a residents' welfare association (RWA). The committee members are volunteers. They hire the guards, cleaners and maintenance staff, often through a facility-management company. Every flat pays a monthly maintenance charge to cover the cost.
What the app does. A society app covers four jobs:

Who buys it. The buyer is the society's committee, or the builder of a new society. The residents use the app, but the committee chooses it. The society usually pays a fee for each flat.
Running a society is a smaller version of running any building.
