Digital programmes for chronic conditions pair an app with a coach, a device, and sometimes a doctor. Employers and insurers pay for them, because they expect to spend less on treatment as a result. India has more people with diabetes than almost any other country, and it has a group of programmes of its own.

The continuous glucose monitor was once a device for people who inject insulin. It is now sold to people with prediabetes, the stage before diabetes, and to healthy people too. The new weight-loss medicines have also changed what a programme for diabetes and weight is for. The Indian companies here are building for a country with a vast number of people with diabetes, and few diabetes specialists.
