This Market Segment covers two kinds of business.
Legal help online. Online legal services sell standard legal documents and filings to people and small businesses, at a fixed price. Law firms usually charge by the hour. These services charge a set fee for each job, or a subscription. In many countries, only a licensed lawyer may give legal advice. Anyone else who does is said to be practising law without a licence. So these services sell the documents and filings themselves, and connect customers to a lawyer when they need advice.

Compliance training. Companies must train their employees in the rules they have to follow, such as rules against bribery, harassment and misuse of data. In India, for example, the law on sexual harassment at the workplace requires employers to run awareness programmes for their staff. Companies buy this training as online courses. The software also keeps a record of who finished which course, because regulators and courts may ask for proof. The buyers are companies' compliance and HR teams.

Every company named here has posted software engineering jobs in India. Famous companies that don't actively hire software engineers in India are left out.

Most people never see a lawyer about their legal problems, because it costs too much. AI models can now explain a dispute with a landlord, draft a legal notice or fill in a form. How far AI may go before it counts as practising law is a question regulators in India and elsewhere have not settled.
